An E-file can completely transform the way you work, helping you achieve faster services, precise preparation, flawless cuticle work and more efficient infills and removals.

But great E-file work isn’t simply about knowing which bit to use. It’s about understanding the machine, the nail and the skin you’re working on, and having the confidence to adapt your technique to every client.

This course combines in-depth theory with practical, hands-on training, teaching you not only how to use an E-file, but why you are performing each technique. You’ll learn to work safely and efficiently while recognising when to stop, protecting both the natural nail and surrounding skin.

You’ll also discover how an E-file can streamline your everyday services, from natural nail preparation and cuticle work to Gel Polish infills, product debulking, removing lifted product, reducing length, complete removal and overlay refinement.

Throughout the day, you’ll receive demonstrations and hands-on guidance to help you develop the correct control and technique, leaving you with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to safely introduce E-filing into your services.

• In-depth nail anatomy and skin theory, including identifying living and non-living tissue and understanding where it is safe to work.
• How to recognise different skin types and adapt your E-file technique accordingly.
• A deeper understanding of how your E-file machine works, including RPM, torque, forward and reverse functions.
• E-file bits and grits, including carbide, diamond bits and sanding bands, their different uses and how to select the correct bit for the job.
• Correct speeds, angles and pressure for safe, controlled E-file work.
• Safe natural nail preparation to promote excellent product adhesion without compromising the natural nail.
• Precise cuticle work, including lifting, cleaning, exfoliating and refining while confidently recognising when to stop.
• Efficient product removal and infill preparation, including debulking, removing lifted product and reducing length.
• How to safely infill Gel Polish, reducing the need for repeated soak-offs.
• Complete product removal and overlay refinement for a smooth, professional finish.
• E-file hygiene, maintenance and safe working practices.

Prerequisite

You must hold a valid certificate in one of the following:

• Gel Polish
• BIAB
• Hard Gel
• Acrylic
• NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy
• NVQ Level 2 Nail Technology

All students must be aged 16 years or over to attend this course.

A copy of your certificates will be requested by your educator before attending the course.

 

Model Requirements

No model is required as you’ll be practising on your own nails.

IMPORTANT INFO: Please arrive with 3 to 4 weeks of regrowth and existing product on your nails, such as Builder Gel/BIAB, Hard Gel or Acrylic, finished with a Gel Polish colour (no nude colours). Your nails should be ready for an infill.

Please leave your cuticles completely untouched before the course. No pushing back, trimming or cuticle work, as this is essential for practising the E-file cuticle techniques taught during your training.

 

Kit

No kit purchase is required, helping to keep the initial cost of your training lower.

All E-file machines, bits, tools and equipment required for training will be provided for use on the day.

You’ll also receive support and guidance on what to purchase to get started on your E-file journey, helping you invest in the right equipment for your needs and budget without unnecessary purchases.

 

Theory & Pre-Course Information

There is no pre course theory or online learning required. All theory is taught in class as part of your training day.

Theory and practical learning are taught alongside one another, allowing each subject to naturally flow into the next. This helps you connect the knowledge to the practical technique while it is fresh in your mind and understand the full E-file routine from start to finish.

You’ll gain an in depth understanding of nail anatomy, skin types, E-file machines, bits, speeds, angles, pressure, hygiene and safe working practices, with the opportunity to immediately put that knowledge into practice.

Teaching includes a combination of visual aids, videos, E-file machines, bits, real life tools and live demonstrations, helping you understand not only how to perform each technique, but why.

This structured approach creates a natural flow to your learning, helping you retain your knowledge and leave feeling confident in both the theory and practical application of your E-file.

A detailed training manual is provided on the day for you to follow throughout your training and keep as a reference guide after completing your course.
